Purdue Dining & Culinary Compliance and Update on CDC Romaine Advisory

On November 20, 2018, the CDC issued a food safety alert telling consumers not to eat any romaine lettuce, and requesting retailers and restaurants not sell or serve any romaine product. Purdue Dining & Culinary immediately complied with this request.

On November 26, 2018, the CDC and FDA issued an update food safety alert narrowing the warning to consumers: only romaine from the Central Coastal growing regions of northern and central California should not be consumed.

According to the 11/26 alert, romaine lettuce labeled with a harvest region outside of the Central Coastal growing regions of northern and central California is not linked to this outbreak.

At this time, Purdue Dining & Culinary is only sourcing romaine from growing regions outside of northern and central California that the CDC has said are not linked to the issue.

In full compliance with the latest CDC and FDA guidelines, romaine is expected to be back in our Dining Facilities the week of December 3rd.
