What is the PD&C retention bonus program?

The PD&C retention bonus program is a series of lump sum payments totaling up to $1,000 available to new employees hired between November 1st, 2017 and December 31, 2018. To qualify, the employee must be in good standing at the time of the bonus reviews.

What conditions must I meet to qualify for my bonus?

To qualify for a bonus payment, the new employee must meet the following conditions:

  • Be currently employed with Purdue Dining & Catering in a full time administrative, op/tech, or clerical/service position
  • Be in good standing with satisfactory work performance at the time of the bonus review. Employees in progressive discipline are not considered to be in good standing and therefore will not be eligible for the bonus.
  • Have an official start date between November 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018.
What does it mean to “be in good standing”?

To be in good standing means that the employee is performing satisfactorily in all aspects of the job. These include attendance, working well with others, displaying a positive attitude, and completing assigned responsibilities. Employees in progressive discipline are not considered to be in good standing.

When will I receive my bonus?

Bonuses will be awarded on the following schedule:

  • Completion of 90 days
    • $250.00 less taxes
  • Completion of 180 days
    • $250.00 less taxes
  • Completion of 1 year
    • $500.00 less taxes
How will I receive my bonus?

At each milestone (90 days, 180 days, and 1 year), the supervisor will meet with the new employee to review job performance and eligibility for bonus payment. The lump sum amount will be distributed via the employee’s pay check. Please note that this is taxable income, therefore, the actual amount received will be less taxes. Due to the payroll calendar, it may take up to three pay cycles for the bonus to be paid. The actual paid amount will be reflected on the employee’s paid stub in Employee Self Service.

What happens if I am in progressive discipline and do not qualify for a bonus? Do I lose the opportunity for future bonuses?

It depends. Progressive discipline actions generally remain effective for six months, provided there are no additional infractions and acceptable progress towards action plan goals is made. If an employee emerges from progressive discipline prior to the bonus milestone, they would be eligible for that bonus. As each progressive discipline situation is different, employees should check with their manager and/or human resources for a more definitive answer.

If I improve my performance, can I earn my bonuses retroactively?

No. Bonus eligibility is tied to the bonus review date. If an employee is not eligible at the time of the bonus review, they forfeit that bonus.

What if I have questions about the bonus program, my eligibility, or payment?

Employees can speak with their manager for clarification, especially in regards to eligibility based on performance. Contacts for additional information:
