Food Stores is responsible for the contract negotiation and procurement of all food and food related items and services for the West Lafayette Campus. Annual purchases for these items can top the $15 million mark! Approximately $10 million of this is warehoused and distributed through the Food Stores operation.
Food Stores is additionally responsible for negotiating, contracting and administering campus vending, Franchises, licenses, food service equipment, used grease removal and other food related services in addition to approving off campus caterers, coordinating events, and providing custom processing for a variety of meat items.
Services are provided to the food service operations within the Division of Housing and Food Services, Hotel Tourism Management, Athletics as well as academic departments requiring products for teaching and research.
Food Stores provides students the opportunity to enhance their Purdue experience through employment. We offer convenient hours around academic schedules and students experience the opportunity to practice principles learned in the classroom, in a real work environment, while developing valuable resume building experience.
The Food Stores facility is located on the south side of campus. The facility was originally built in 1957 and was expanded in 1992.
