Food Stores is responsible for the contract negotiation and procurement of all food and food-related items and services for the West Lafayette campus. Annual purchases for these items exceed $15 million. Approximately $7 million of this is warehoused and distributed through the Food Stores operations.
Food Stores is also responsible for negotiating, contracting, and administering campus vending, franchises, licenses, food service equipment, used grease removal, food grade C02 gas, and other food-related services. In addition, Food Stores approves off-campus caterers, assisting with academic and Purdue Dining & Catering events.
Services are provided to the food service operations within the division of Dining & Catering, Hotel Tourism Management (HTM), Athletics, as well as academic departments requiring products for teaching and research.
Food Stores provides students the opportunity to enhance their Purdue experience through employment. We offer convenient hours around academic schedules, and students experience the opportunity to practice principles learned in the classroom, in a real work environment, while developing valuable resume building experience.
The Food Stores facility is located on the south side of campus. The facility was originally built in 1957, was expanded in 1992 and will be demolished in 2016 to make way for growth in the Agriculture School.
